Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 10, 2026
Blue Swallow Farm Foundation (BSF) operates blueswallowfarmfoundation.org to share our work, offer educational programs and online courses, receive inquiries and applications, and accept donations. This notice explains the information handled through our website and the choices available to you.
Information you provide
The information requested depends on the service you use. It may include:
- Contact and collaboration inquiries: your name, email address, phone number, organization, role, project description, and the message or materials you choose to send.
- Course accounts and learning records: account and contact information, enrollment and order details, course progress, quiz responses and results, assignment submissions and feedback, and completion or certificate records.
- Program and event applications: participant and parent or guardian information, registration details, and answers or documents requested by the particular application or waiver.
- Newsletter requests: your name, email address, subscription preferences, and confirmation or unsubscribe activity.
- Donations and payments: information associated with a donation, purchase, receipt, or payment-support request. Payment information entered on a payment provider’s page is handled by that provider under its own privacy notice.
Please provide only information relevant to your request. Do not include passwords, payment-card numbers, government identification numbers, or unrelated sensitive information in a contact message or course assignment.
Information collected when you use the website
Our website and service providers may receive technical information such as your IP address, browser and device information, pages requested, referring page, dates and times, and security or error events. We use cookies and similar browser storage to support sign-in, security, account preferences, and website operation. Our site also uses Google Analytics through MonsterInsights to help us understand how visitors use the website.
Forms may use Google reCAPTCHA for spam protection. Pages may load content or resources supplied by other organizations, such as video players, social links, and fonts. When your browser loads an external resource, the provider may receive technical information about the request and may apply its own cookies or privacy practices.
How we use information
We use information to respond to questions; manage applications, events and educational programs; create and support accounts; provide and evaluate coursework; record completion; administer donations and payments; send requested communications; improve the website; and investigate errors, abuse or security incidents. We also use records where needed for accounting, administration, recordkeeping, or applicable legal obligations.
Course and account messages, including password-reset, authentication, enrollment and assignment messages, are separate from optional newsletter communications.
Service providers and information sharing
We use service providers to operate these functions. The website’s current tools include WP Engine for hosting, Google Workspace for email, Masteriyo for course delivery, Mailchimp for newsletter management, Google Analytics for website measurement, and Wordfence and other WordPress security tools for website protection. These tools do not all receive the same information; the information handled depends on the function you use and how the tool operates.
Payment links on our website include PayPal and Stripe. The provider displayed for your transaction handles the payment information you enter. Review that provider’s privacy notice before submitting payment information. BSF may receive transaction details needed to administer the donation or purchase and respond to payment questions.
Information may be accessed by BSF personnel, instructors, and authorized service providers who need it for the relevant activity. We may also disclose information when needed to comply with applicable law, respond to a lawful request, protect rights or safety, or investigate misuse. If a specific program requires information to be shared with a partner, the program’s application, consent materials, or communications should be reviewed for those details.
External services have their own privacy notices. Relevant examples include Google, Mailchimp, PayPal, and Stripe. Following a link to another website takes you outside this website’s services.
Retention and security
Retention depends on the type of record and why it was collected. Course, application, communication and transaction records may be retained for program administration, learner support, accounting, security, dispute resolution or applicable recordkeeping obligations. Copies may also remain in backups until those backups are replaced or expire. Contact us if you would like information about a particular record or would like to request its deletion.
We use access controls, encrypted website connections and security tools to help protect information. No website, email service or method of electronic storage can guarantee absolute security. Keep your account credentials private and contact us if you believe your account or information has been misused.
Your choices and requests
- Account information: use available account settings to review or update your details, or contact us for assistance.
- Newsletters: use the unsubscribe link in a newsletter or contact us to request removal from the mailing list. This does not stop messages needed to administer an active account, course, transaction or request.
- Cookies: your browser can restrict or delete cookies. Blocking cookies required for sign-in or other website functions may prevent those functions from working. Google also provides an Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Access, correction or deletion: contact us to ask about personal information you have provided, request a correction, or request deletion. We may need to verify your identity and clarify the records involved. Some records may need to be retained for applicable obligations, security, or unresolved transactions.
Children and family programs
BSF’s educational work includes programs involving children and families. A parent, guardian, school representative or other authorized adult should complete the forms intended for them and review the relevant program notices and consent materials. Please do not submit information about a child unless you are authorized to do so and the information is needed for that program. If you believe information about a child was submitted without appropriate authorization, contact us so we can review the situation.
Contact us
For privacy questions or requests, email hiller@blueswallowfarmfoundation.org or use our Contact page. Please identify your request as a privacy inquiry and provide enough information for us to locate the relevant account or communication. Do not send a password or payment-card number.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice as our website or practices change. The date at the top identifies the latest revision. Please review the notice when using a new service or submitting information through the website.
