Providing information and resources for educators who want to teach through the natural world

Blue Swallow Farm Foundation aims to provide information and resources for educators who want to teach through the natural world as part of classroom instruction and resources and mentorship for researchers who want to study the impacts.

To advance this goal, we are calling for article submissions for educators and researchers. Articles should relate to instruction and research in the natural world, such as in outdoor classrooms. Lesson plans for all subject areas/grades are welcome. Submissions for technology-based studies will be accepted as well.

POSSIBLE TOPICS INCLUDE:

For Educators

  • Content and Lesson Plans (Grades K-12)

  • Outdoor Classroom Design and Strategies

  • Citizen Science Programs

  • Innovative Technologies

For Researchers

  • Strategies for Conducting Research in the Natural World

  • Ways to Measure Variables in Outdoor Instruction

  • Innovative Methodological Approaches

  • Research Studies and Reviews of Research Studies

WRITING SUBMISSIONS

Article submissions include relevant citations and an APA style reference list. Please see APA style tip sheet. Accepted work will receive feedback prior to online publication and will be approved by the author(s).

For Articles

500-600 words on the topic of interest

For Lesson Plans

Submit a 500-600-word narrative on the content of the topic with references. Also include the accompanying lesson plan using the lesson plan template.

APA Style

Article submissions will include relevant citations and an APA style reference list. Accepted work will receive feedback prior to online publication and will be approved by the author(s).

SUBMISSIONS

Article submissions are accepted on a rolling basis. Please send submissions to submissions@blueswallowfarmfoundation.org. In the header, please use the following format: submissions_author(s)_title. The response rate is 3-4 weeks.
