When an educator uses natural specimens in the classroom, it is always possible that these teaching tools can undergo some wear and tear, and even undergo some accidental damage. One way to encourage students to handle specimens attentively is to place boxes with a bit of foam or cotton under each specimen. For larger objects, trays or Styrofoam mats can be placed underneath. Saving many shapes of boxes and packing materials can become a very helpful tool in protecting these precious classroom resources.
